Bio

Avery Bell is a composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist active in New Orleans and Austin. He has composed music for film, contemporary music, and has had concert music performed by ensembles including full orchestra, jazz band, and brass quintet. His 2016 orchestral composition Awakening won Loyola University’s annual orchestral composition competition, and his piece Way Too Many Red Flags was performed at the world-famous New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in April 2018 by the Loyola Jazz Band. He currently works as a freelance composer and performs on sousaphone, bass, and trombone, and is the bandleader and arranger for the New Orleans based Blown Away Brass Band.
